Creative Mentoring or Tutorial

These 1 hour 1-1 sessions stem from the part of my teaching I have always loved most. ✨Please contact us to arrange a mutually suitable time. Working one-to-one with students, helping them refine their creative practice and develop their ideas. I have offered these tutorials for many years at all stages of creative development up to degree level, they were always entirely student-led, with the sole aim of helping each person achieve their objectives and fulfil their creative ambitions. I am experienced in working with people at all stages of their creative development, from complete beginners to highly accomplished artists looking for fresh insight or an outside perspective. It’s often hard to clearly evaluate our own work when we are so close to it, and sometimes all it takes is an unbiased but experienced pair of eyes to unlock the next step. While skills-based workshops are widely available both in-person and online, I have always found it rare to come across creative mentoring that is truly centred on the artist, without any external agenda, and with enough breadth of experience to meet you where you are. That kind of focused, thoughtful, personalised support was the most valuable part of my own art education, from foundation through to master’s level. It was also the aspect of teaching I found most rewarding to offer my students, the quiet clarity of being listened to, and gently guided, with your own work and ideas at the centre. In many ways, these sessions are a form of creative therapy, not dealing with life traumas, but with the questions, blocks, ideas, and uncertainties we all face in our creative lives. A good mentor is someone who understands the depth and complexity of those challenges, and helps you find solutions that work for your creative direction and energy. Each session is tailored entirely to you. It might be a practical, problem-solving meeting, where we look at work you would like to develop or resolve. Or it might be a broader conversation about your creative direction, your confidence, your process, or the next step in your practice. You decide what we explore. After the session I will send you a short reflection and action plan based on our discussion.
