Lino Printing Course

This self-paced, short course is made up of ten videos, each exploring a different aspect of lino printing.  I work through each project in real time, talking you through my thought process, the decisions I make and the techniques I have developed.

We will begin by looking through a selection of my own lino prints before discussing the materials and equipment I use. From there, we will move on to three different approaches to lino printing: a simple single plate print, a reduction print and a multi-block print using four separate plates. I will demonstrate printing  by hand and with a press, showing that beautiful prints can be achieved with or without specialist equipment.

The course is accompanied by an illustrated booklet, which includes the reference photographs I work from, process images, a short history of relief printing and an introduction to the different methods of lino printing. I have also included links to the materials I use throughout the course, making it easy for you to copy and paste them to find the same, or similar, products wherever you are in the world.

Whether you're completely new to lino printing or looking to build on your existing skills, I hope these videos encourage you to enjoy the process and discover the satisfaction of creating your own hand-printed artwork.
