Research & Inspiration
Nature, in its wildest and most untamed form, has always been my greatest inspiration. Immersing myself in the landscape and observing the intricate relationships between birds, plants, and animals shapes my creative practice and reminds me of the profound role that nature plays in human existence. Through my work, I explore how humans and the natural world are completely interconnected and I aim to inspire a deep respect for these relationships.
Drawing on a variety of literary genres and personal experiences, my creative practice explores the different ways humans and non-human beings perceive and experience the world. My work aims to encourage contemplation, promoting thoughtful engagement with nature and the broader landscape. I investigate the influence of geographical environments on our mental state, mood, and overall well-being, acknowledging their significant impact.
My creative practice is about fostering thoughtful engagement with the natural world. Whether through my artwork, teaching, or collaborations with environmental organisations, my goal is to encourage people to reflect on how we interact with nature and what we can do to protect it.
As an artist and educator, I am passionate about sharing my knowledge with a wider audience. My work centres around empowering others to engage with printmaking, drawing, painting, and various other creative techniques. I aim to inspire people worldwide to explore their creativity through nature centred practice, guiding them to experiment with different artistic processes. Through online workshops, tutorials, and eBooks, I hope to foster a meaningful connection between art, nature, and personal expression, while providing practical tools for those looking to develop their own creative practice.
In addition to my personal work, I am committed to fostering meaningful change by actively participating in projects like the 'Ghost of Gone Birds' initiative at the Migration Festival, the PAN project, and collaborations with the British Trust for Ornithology Red67book and Wildlife Trusts. I support charities focused on preserving and safeguarding birds, plants, and animals, raising awareness locally, nationally, and internationally.
CV & Statement
My practice is broadly based, spanning painting, drawing, printmaking, and sculpture. I graduated with distinction from the MA Illustration: Authorial Practice program at Falmouth University, following the completion of my BA in Fine Art and PGCE.
I am a part-time Higher Education lecturer on an interdisciplinary BA (Hons) Art & Design Practice Course.
Living in Cornwall, my daily life is intertwined with various non-human species in a wild and ever changing landscape, including livestock, pets, and wild flora and fauna, all of which inspire and inform my practice. Through my work, I continuously strive to foster dialogue around the intricate relationships between humans, animals, and the natural environment, exploring, questioning, and celebrating these interconnected bonds.
