Foxglove Unique one off original Monotprint

 

Digitalis purpurea, the name may come from the Anglo-Saxon word foxes-gleow, a "gleow" being a ring of bells. Which is connected to Norse legend in which foxes wear the bell-shaped foxglove blossoms around their necks and the ringing of bells was a spell of protection against hunters and hounds. They have held many symbolic meanings they can be associated with insincerity, pride, intuition, creativity, and energy. In the Victorian language of flowers, giving foxgloves would mean that you are ambitious for them not yourself.

 

This monoprint is a unique hand printed one off original artwork made from a direct print of a flower or foliage using specialist printmaking inks . Directly depicting nature in all is perfect imperfections, you will often find a little plant sap or a few accidental marks in these completely unique art works.

 

Printed on heavyweight off white high quality paper. The print will be mounted & framed to order in a 20.5 x 25.5cm (10 x 8 inch frame, The first image is photographed in natural light, the second is a scan the third is again in natural light.

 

The Monoprinting process is a direct, unpredictable and intuitive printmaking process, The prints are a reflection of the perfect imperfections in nature which are hard to completely control, making them even more unique and beautiful. You can make a single unique print by applying the specialist ink to the leaves directly, then printing them onto paper to paper to create an intricate and detailed piece of artwork .
